SFU inducts 20 students into National Society of Leadership and Success
Members of the National Society of Leadership and Success must engage in special leadership training prior to their induction. This fall, 20 Saint Francis University students were inducted into the society, totaling 80 student members at the university. Only when a student successfully completes four training steps will they become eligible for induction into the society. One of those steps includes the Leadership Training Day workshop that focuses on defining one's personal statement of purpose, understanding their communication style and the styles of others, holding themselves and others to a higher standard of excellence, and more.

Advanced Certification in National Society of Leadership and Success
On Saturday, December 7th, 2019, students were recognized for receiving National Society of Leadership and Success Advanced Certification. Students Inducted into Nu Rho Psi Neruoscience Honor Society
Saint Francis University held the inaugural induction ceremony for the recently established chapter of Nu Rho Psi, the national Neuroscience honor society. Nu Rho Psi is the only nationally-recognized honor society in the area of brain research. The inducted students and faculty were invited to become members based on their interest and commitment to the interdisciplinary study of Neuroscience. The students were nominated based on their high scholastic achievement and their potential to excel as future neuroscientists.

Saint Francis Student Wins SAGE Scholars National Scholarship Contest
Rebecca Hollobaugh, a freshman at Saint Francis University, has won a $1,000 SAGE Scholars scholarship in a nationwide essay contest. Hollobaugh was one of the winning 100 scholarship recipients who wrote an exceptional essay.

Students sign SFU Esports Letter of Intent to Compete
After days of try-outs, 31 students signed an Intent to Compete, officially committing themselves to represent Saint Francis University under the National Association of Collegiate Esports, (NACE). Students will compete in Hearthstone, League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Students Participate in Domestic Dental Mission Trip
Ten SFU students volunteered with MOM-n-PA, the Pennsylvania Dental Mission of Mercy, held at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre. Students improved hundreds of lives as they worked alongside nearly a thousand dental professionals, support personnel, and lay volunteers. Services were provided to patients who either lack dental insurance or are under-insured; many have been living with severe dental pain for months or years before coming to the clinic, affecting their ability to eat, work, and care for themselves and their families.

Saint Francis University students named to President's and Dean's Lists
More than 750 Saint Francis University students made one of the Spring 2019 Honor's Lists: President's or Dean's. To achieve either list, students must have full-time status and attain a quality point average of 4.000 (President's) or 3.500 (Dean's) on 12 or more credits during a single semester, with no continuing or incomplete grades.

Students Study Abroad in France, Fall 2019
A group of 16 students departed from the United States to travel to Ambialet, France for a semester of studying abroad in the subjects of French, Fine Arts, and Religious Studies. These students will travel on many day trips to near-by towns such as Albi and Toulouse, as well take extended trips to Barcelona, Paris, and Amsterdam. We wish the students and faculty safe travels and we look forward to hearing their many stories from abroad!

Phi Delta Kappa Sorority continues Philanthropic Success throughout 2018-2019 Academic Year
Phi Delta Kappa Sorority members raised over $14,000 and volunteered over 1,400 hours during the 2018-19 academic year, supporting a boy's Make-A-Wish and the fight against cancer. These young women are dedicated service.

Joe Stevens recognized as Outstanding Volunteer by CCC
Joe Stevens, an honors student from Altoona, PA, was recognized by Cambria Care Center (CCC) as Outstanding Volunteer. CCC was one of two community partners in the "Franciscan Values for Today" Honors courses (RLST 105). This course is a community-engaged (CE) designated course in which students apply what they are learning in class to help meet a community need. Joe helped CCC in a variety ways, doing activities with residents, spending time with residents who don't entertain many visitors, working in the dementia unit and more.
