SFU seals partnership with Curry Supply Holdings

Loretto, PA (08/21/2019) — Internships are a critical part of developing a student's career path and are a valuable means to gaining hands-on experience that will put them on the right track after graduation.

Saint Francis University is proud to announce its partnership with Curry Supply Holdings, one of Pennsylvania's premier manufacturing, rail, and supply companies. Curry is a well-established family owned organization and a leader in various industries. As a thriving organization and a company committed to the Blair county and surrounding region, Saint Francis University identified the company as a potential partner.

The collaboration aims to support students in gaining practical experience in the ever-growing manufacturing industry. Internships are carefully crafted to provide students with real-world experience that aligns with their academic curriculum and career aspirations. Students have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the fields of engineering and business with an organization at the forefront of their industry.

Currently, three students are interning at Curry with the goal to achieve employment within the company.

Engineering majors Ed Zovinka and Grace Bailey are interning at Curry Rail in Hollidaysburg, PA, while Marketing major, Chiara De Luca, is interning with Curry Supply near Martinsburg, Pennsylvania.

"My main tasks involve conducting a competitive analysis by identifying competitors in the different industries where Curry Supply operates and evaluate their marketing strategies," said De Luca. She continued, "I am very grateful for this opportunity. Real-world experience is essential to gain confidence, truly understand your tasks, develop key skills, and learn how to assess uncertainties."

Saint Francis University is looking forward to this partnership with Curry, as it reaffirms the University's commitment to prepare every student for success long after graduation. The relationships also aims to attract highly skilled workers to Curry and meet the demands of its growing business endeavors. Curry values a committed and vested workforce and this partnership helps to develop pathways towards the Curry employee model.
