SFU Professor Receives National Accounting Faculty of the Year Award.

Loretto, PA (04/22/2021) — Dr. Angela Seidel, Business Administration Department Chair, and Associate Professor of Accounting was recently awarded the IMA Accounting Faculty of the Year Award from the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE).

IACBE is a global organization that provides specialized accreditation for business programs across the world. IMA, the Institute of Management Accountants, is the largest and most respected worldwide association of accountants and financial professionals focused exclusively on advancing the management accounting profession. These organizations partner together to recognize one faculty member that demonstrates excellence in teaching accounting.

Dr. Seidel was appointed to the accounting faculty in 2013 was named chair of the business administration department in 2020. She has been a finalist for several teaching awards, holds the Certified Management Accounting certification, is co-advisor for the Accounting Club, and promotes effective teaching of accounting through both her research and service. The Saint Francis University accounting program has a rich legacy and continues to be a top-tier program with a 100% graduate placement rate for the past 3 years.

Criteria for this award are: the awardee provides opportunities for students to grow in their knowledge of accounting; has high expectations for student performance, encourages students to set and achieve educational and professional goals including accounting certifications; acts as a mentor and is available to help individual students; models integrity, ethical behavior and social responsibility; provides active, hands-on opportunities for students to "practice accounting"; build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and the accounting community; maintains current knowledge in accounting through engagement in accounting related professional development; researches and engages in innovative ways to teach accounting; and is active in the accounting profession through accounting practice and involvement in a professional accounting organization.
