SFU Alum Combines Nursing Career with Military Service

Sarah was able to graduate from the top Nursing program in the nation and become a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Loretto, PA (03/02/2020) — Sarah Davis once dreamed of becoming a nurse-and serving in the military. Thanks to Saint Francis University's military-friendly options, Sarah was able to graduate from the top Nursing program in the nation and become a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army through IUP's elite ROTC Warrior Battalion program.

LT Sarah Davis, SFU (19' Nursing) and Warrior Battalion alumna, was one of the great cadets-turned-2nd LT from the program. She graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate as well as the number one nursing cadet in the US Army's Cadet Command 2nd Brigade. LT Davis said that the ROTC program challenged her to be the best leader she could be. "The Warrior Battalion taught me so much, they were supportive in all aspects of my life," she said.

With the help of the Warrior Battalion program, LT Davis was able to become a nurse at her first choice of duty station, Hawaii. She is currently a Medical Surgical Nurse at the Tripler Army Medical Center, where she is working on the medical/telemetry floor. "Life after ROTC is great, though adjusting to adult life was a bit challenging," she said. "My experiences at SFU and in the ROTC have helped me adjust much easier."

Aside from her normal military requirements, LT Davis is enjoying her new island life. She recently became a certified scuba diver, and also passes time playing in a men's soccer league. Her hope for the future is to earn her Expert Field Medical Badge and possibly attend Jungle School.

Whatever she chooses to do, LT Davis will have many doors opening for her because of her past with SFU Nursing and the Warrior Battalion Army ROTC Program.
