SFU adds two new members to its Board of Trustees

Loretto, PA (10/16/2020) — Saint Francis has announced the election of two new members to its Board of Trustees for four-year terms, beginning this fall.

The new members are Dr. James Burke, 88, President, Allegheny Brain & Spine Surgeons, and Mr. Jack Eckenrode, 74, recently retired Global Chief of Security for State Street Bank, headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.

About the Trustees

Dr. James Burke is Board Certified in Neurological Surgery. He joined Allegheny Brain & Spine Surgeons in 2003 after completing his residency at University of Pittsburgh.

His extensive experience in the treatment of multiple types of spinal disorders and cranial abnormalities make him a leader in Neurosurgery. He also serves as the Concussion Specialist for many high school and college student athletes.

Dr. Burke graduated from SFU in 1988 with a B.S. in Biology, University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1994 with a Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics, and University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1996 with an M.D. in Allopathic Medicine. He is married to Dr. Nancy Burke and they reside in Hollidaysburg PA. Together they have four children Juliana, James, Michael, and Molly.

Mr. Jack Eckenrode is a 1974 graduate of Saint Francis and recently retired Global Chief of Security for State Street bank in Boston, MA. This follows a full career in the public sector where he retired as the Agent in Charge of the Philadelphia FBI office in 2006.

He was recognized 6 times by Security Magazine as one of the top security managers in Fortune 500. He attributes his success to his undergraduate education at Saint Francis.

Mr. Eckenrode lives with his wife, Linda, in Madison, CT, close to their four grown children who are in Boston, MA. He is looking forward to offering insight into organizational leadership and ethical decision-making.
