Saint Francis University Joins Over 100 Colleges and Universities in Coalition Standing with Israel Against Hamas
Loretto, PA (10/27/2023) — Saint Francis University proudly announces its commitment to a coalition of more than 100 institutions of higher education standing with Israel against the acts of terror perpetrated by Hamas in Gaza.
The coalition, led by Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman, President of Yeshiva University, includes a diverse group of public and private, faith-based, and historically Black colleges and universities. Together, they condemn the brutal actions of Hamas, emphasizing that the fight against Hamas is a fight against evil, akin to the fight against ISIS.
In a joint statement, the coalition expressed horror at the inhumanity of Hamas, condemning the murder of innocent civilians, including babies and children, and the use of rape and hostage-taking as tools of terrorism. The presidents and chancellors of these institutions affirm their commitment to moral clarity and the pursuit of truth, calling on leaders of colleges and universities worldwide to join this critical effort.
Saint Francis University President Malachi Van Tassell, T.O.R., Ph.D. said, "As an institution deeply driven by Catholic, Franciscan mission and values, we stand in solidarity with Israel and the people suffering under Hamas' cruel rule. It is essential for universities to unite against terrorism, promoting peace, understanding, and the protection of our campus communities."
The coalition invites presidents and chancellors of colleges and universities to join the effort by contacting Contact@UniversitiesUnitedAgainstTerrorism.org.
