Saint Francis University Community Making Protective Equipment For Health Care Workers During COVID-19 Pandemic

Loretto, PA (05/04/2020) — Given the fact that 3D printers are sitting dormant at Saint Francis University due to Covid-19 forcing the semester online, Engineering faculty Dr. Rachel Wagner and Br. Marius Strom, T.O.R., decided to join the DIY community in leveraging additive manufacturing (3D printing) for PPE, namely creating face shields for local healthcare professionals. The project that followed is a cross-disciplinary effort producing 150 masks in the first week alone.
