Saint Francis University announces new Vice President for Academic Affairs

by Office of the President

Loretto, PA (04/07/2022) — Dear University Community,

Peace and good! I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Michael B. McGinnis as Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. McGinnis will be joining the Saint Francis University leadership team this summer.

Dr. McGinnis earned his ACS-certified B.S. degree in chemistry from Elizabethtown College (PA) and Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Tennessee. He completed a one-year teaching-research Postdoctoral Fellowship with the University of Tennessee; also working at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Dr. McGinnis comes to us from senior military college Norwich University where he has served as Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics and professor of chemistry since 2013. Prior to Norwich University, he served as head of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry from 2007 to 2013 at the University of North Georgia (formerly North Georgia College and State University), a sister senior military college. Immediately before that Dr. McGinnis served as Associate Dean and Director of Preprofessional Programs at Georgia College, Georgia's Public Liberal Arts College.

He will be joined by his wife Maryann and three children Zachary, Stephen, and Erin.

My thanks to all who met with and welcomed Dr. McGinnis last week. Please join me in praying for blessings upon Saint Francis University during this time of transition.

May the Lord give us His peace.

Sincerely,

Fr. Malachi, T.O.R.

President
