Saint Francis Univerity Hosts Crucial Session: Shedding Light on Addiction and Equipping Community for Safety

Loretto, PA (02/26/2024) — Saint Francis University is pleased to announce its upcoming event, "Talk About Drugs: Substance Abuse, Disorder 101, and Narcan Training," scheduled for March 12, 2024, from 12:15 pm to 2:00 pm. The event will be held both in-person at Saint Francis University (DiSepio 213/214) and online via https://events.francis.edu/event/talk_about_drugs.

During this informative session, participants will delve into the historical context of government-led campaigns on drugs, addressing the stigmatization of individuals grappling with addiction. The event aims to debunk common myths surrounding addiction and highlight emerging drug threats in Cambria County, with a focus on substances like Fentanyl, Carfentanil, and Xylazine. Attendees will also gain essential skills for administering Nasal Narcan, a crucial tool for opioid overdose reversal.

Participants attending in person will receive a complimentary Nasal Narcan kit and a COR Bag.

This event is tailored for a diverse audience, including social service agencies, social workers, professional counselors, psychologists, mental health professionals, case managers, substance abuse professionals, peer support specialists, educators, medical professionals, public servants, clergy, higher education professionals, concerned citizens, parents, and the general public. Social work continuing education credits are available.
