Poppy Artwork Project Open to High School Student Submissions

William N. Campbell Poppy Project through the Center for Fine Arts at Saint Francis University

Loretto, PA (10/06/2023) — High school students are invited to submit artwork created using poppies in honor of veterans to the William N. Campbell Poppy Project through the Center for Fine Arts at Saint Francis University.

St. Benedict VFW Ream Miller Post 7783 is sponsoring the contest and will select the winning entries. The artwork will be displayed in the main lobby of Scotus Hall on the Saint Francis University campus from Nov. 10 through 17.

Group and individual (2D and 3D) projects incorporating AT LEAST ONE poppy can be entered. Poppies can be obtained from SFU.

Participants need to deliver their artwork to Scotus 303 on Wednesday, Nov. 8, or Thursday, Nov. 9 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Artwork can be picked up on Monday, Nov. 20. between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The project is named in honor of the late Willliam N. "Wilbur" Campbell of Carrolltown who served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Campbell was an avid member and quartermaster of St. Benedict VFW Post 7783. Judges will include VFW Board Members John Eckenrode (Retired Navy) and Carl Campbell (Marine, son of William) along with VFW auxiliary members Janet Campbell (spouse) and Becky Shero.
