John Skelly to Lead Saint Francis University Veterans Program
Loretto, PA (01/24/2022) — Saint Francis University is proud to announce John Skelley as the Principal Investigator for the University's Veterans Accelerated Learning for Licensing Occupations (VALLO) grant program.
The University was awarded a 1 million dollar grant under the Veterans Accelerated Learning for Licensed Occupations (VALLO) project to help veterans and military personnel have an easier way to finish their degrees and obtain occupational licensing.
Skelly is a longtime resident of Johnstown who is committed to the continued success of his community and region. He completed his undergraduate work at Purdue University and has received numerous training and team-building certifications. He also holds a Master's Degree in Human Resources Management from Pepperdine University and a Master's Degree in Industrial Relations from Saint Francis University. He stays active in education and research in human resources topics and is an Adjunct Instructor in the Master of Arts in Human Resources and MBA Programs at Saint Francis.
John is a retired Colonel from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, having served 30 years in active and reserve command and staff assignments. He was deployed to Southwest Asia with the 2nd Marine Division as a Motor Transport Officer and Company Commander of a Truck Company comprising 230 Marines of the Ebensburg, Connellsville, and Erie Marine Reserve units in 1990-91 for Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He retired from military service in 2008. John resides in the Westmont neighborhood of Johnstown along with his wife Joselle (Joy), a retired Westmont Hilltop elementary school teacher.
