Dolly Parton's Imagination Library Coming to Cambria County

Families with pre-schoolers can sign up for free books at Sept. 25 kick off event

Loretto, PA (09/07/2021) — Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, the flagship program of The Dollywood Foundation, is coming to Cambria County, and every family residing in the county with children from birth until age 5 may register for this monthly book-gifting program to receive up to 60 free age-appropriate books!

Kick Off Event at Saint Francis University

Interested families are invited to a free kick-off event at Saint Francis University on Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am in the Maurice Stokes Athletics Center Auxiliary gym.

After hearing Dolly speak about the benefits of the program at a national legislative conference, State Representative Frank Burns (Dist. 72, Cambria County), secured a grant to offer the program in Cambria County with Saint Francis University serving as the local partnering organization. The program will be implemented by SFU's Dorothy Day Outreach Center and the Graduate Education Department as part of their mission to support families and promote children's literacy.

The family-focused kick-off event will include multiple activity tables to promote literacy and share the Imagination Library experience with young children. Cambria county families with eligible children may register for the program on the spot and will receive their first book that day. Families who are unable to attend the event will have an opportunity to sign up at a later date and will receive the first book in the mail. For more information on the event or registering for the Cambria County book gifting program, contact the Department of Graduate Education at 814-472-3068.
